Spin Palace Player Wins Grand Slam of Slots II
Microgaming's Grand Slam of Slots II (GSOS II) came to a close yesterday when a player at Spin Palace Casino claimed the winner's prize pool of more than $150K. The online multi-player network mega tournament awarded cash prizes to more than 290 of the 1,588 players that participated.
The winning online slots player, identified only as A.P. in a press release issued by Microgaming online casino software provider, also took home $1,000 in the Network $25k Monthly Monster Tournament.
Second and third place GSOS II winners took home $78,780 and $39,367, respectively.
The initial prize pool was scheduled to be $290k, with first prize a sizable $100,000. But participation in the online slots tournament exceeded expectations, so the winnings were increased by more than 50% to a total $456,700.
A bonus prize of $2.43 million was to be issued to the player who succeeding in hitting the full pay table. A nearly impossible task, no one managed to do so. But according to Mike Hebden, Head of Casino at Microgaming, the unclaimed bonus will be put towards building a bigger prize for next year's Grand Slam of Slots III.
Said Hebden of the tournament: "After the success of the first Grand Slam of Slots in 2009, this tournament had a lot to live up to and it certainly did not disappoint. Thunderstruck II proved to be a very popular choice with players; it was a fun and exciting tournament."
