Gambling City regrets and retracts the publication of its July 2, 2011 news item, titled: “AGCC Legal Counselor on Full Tilt Poker Shutdown: Interview.” To this end, we have removed this story, are reviewing the procedure of the reporter who conducted the interview, and are printing the below retraction and apology.
The story was erroneous concerning legal counselor, Werner Bers, affiliation with the Alderney Gambling Control Commission.
We were misled by Mr. Bers as to his association with the AGCC. Though he is indeed a legal counselor for general law in Braunschweig, Germany, and an International gambling authorities expert, he does not, in fact, represent the business dealings, legal decisions or sentiments of the AGCC.
His claim to that effect was unfounded and wrong, and we apologize to our readers, the AGCC and any affected parties for publishing incorrect information.
The story stands in direct contrast to our consistently high journalistic standards. Gambling City owners and the manager of its editorial staff are currently taking measures to ensure these standards continue to be upheld.
