Betfair Plc. has released a new betting application for iPad users that, according to reps for the popular online betting exchange, significantly improves players' gaming experience.

The app is the first to come from Betfair's new development office in San Francisco, where the company's mobile division was recently placed under the leadership of Raj Vemulapalli, formerly of Yaoo!.

The Betfair app provides the functionality of website gambling tailored to the specific requirements of a tablet device. Among its key features are:

• Options for making deposits and withdrawals from anywhere within the app.
• An intuitive landing page with easy access to popular events and live scores.
• Easy access to the betting.befair website, which includes analysis from Betfair's content team.

According to Raj Vemulapalli, Vice President of Mobile Engineering and Head of Mobile Technologies at Betfair, the new Betfair app is a "game-changer" for gambling fans, offering them a "seamless betting experience that replicates the fixed web, whilst making use of the unique features available on iPad."

Betfair is no stranger to mobile technology. The release of its iPad app follows a dramatic increase in mobile gambling revenue for Betfair, and the online gambling industry in general, in the last year. Approximately 40% of Befair customers have placed a bet on a mobile device, and an average 10% of Betfair activity is conducted via mobile phones, with that figure expected to grow further in coming years.
